Community Canvas is an initiative presented by The Culture Show where GBH features artwork from community members on our Digital Mural.
Today’s mural, Babushka by Kathryn Geismar, explores identity and gender through a mother’s lens.
“Through portraits of my children and myself, in paint or in drawing, I seek to portray aspects of individuation and connection,” Geismar says.
Geismar is an artist and psychologist who lives and works in Somerville, Massachusetts. Her interest in identity and internal harmony infuses her professional life in both areas.
