Community Canvas is an initiative presented by The Culture Show where GBH features artwork from community members on our Digital Mural.
Today’s mural is a painting of Trinity Church by Ann Gorbett. She paints exclusively with palette knives to achieve thick and painterly effects.
“I used to work in downtown Boston and would spend my lunch hour walking around and snapping photos of scenes that inspire me,” Gorbett says. “I enjoy exploring painting compositions that highlight the interaction of Boston’s various architectural styles.”
Gorbett holds a fine arts degree and has worked as a professional graphic designer for many years. She began painting in oil again after taking a palette knife workshop through the Copley Society of Art in Boston and was immediately hooked.
