Community Canvas is an initiative presented by The Culture Show where GBH features artwork from community members on our Digital Mural.
Today’s mural Sunburst by Linda Cordner layers color, light, and depth with an abstracted geometry that references nature and aging. The colors are translucent and distressed, evoking a well-worn surface.
“Working in a transparent medium is important in my work,” Cordner says. “It enables me to have a history that is visible as the layers of the painting are built up.”
Cordner is an exhibiting artist for over 20 years and has a B.F.A. from the University of Connecticut. Her work has been shown in galleries and museums around the country. She has also curated exhibits and served as a director for a non-profit gallery.
