Community Canvas is an initiative presented by The Culture Show where GBH features artwork from community members on our Digital Mural.
Today’s mural is an oil painting titled Page Turner by Lori Mehta. The artwork showcases the tactile experience of holding a physical book – its texture, weight, and scent.
“It’s a sensory experience that digital books, despite their convenience, can’t quite replicate,” Mehta says. “In this painting, I tried to capture those subtle details: the warm glow light reflected on the pages, the rustle as a page is turned, and the comfort of a book in hand.”
Mehta is a member of the Cape Cod Art Association, The Newton Art Association, and The Wellesley society of Artists, among many other organizations.
