Community Canvas is an initiative presented by The Culture Show where GBH features artwork from community members on our Digital Mural.
Today’s mural, titled Going Home by Judi Getch Brodman, is a painting that depicts the female turtle returning to sea after laying her eggs.
“Turtles come to lay their eggs during the cover of darkness in the spring,” Brodman says. “I was using saran wrap with my watercolors, and it was egg laying season...we had seen tracks.”
Brodman is the author of ten novels and an artist. Her roots and true inspiration come from New England, in the mountains of Vermont and by the beaches of Wellfleet on Cape Cod.
