This painting, featuring elegant empresses with mythical phoenixes, reflects themes of resilience, transformation, and prosperity. Created using ancient Chinese techniques and vibrant mineral pigments, this artwork invites Boston’s community to explore cross-cultural connections and embrace the profound impact of art on unity and heritage.
Li is an internationally acclaimed artist who specialized in the reproduction and restoration of ancient Chinese paintings at the Forbidden City of Beijing, China, where she worked as a Master Artist for 37 years. Li’s Chinese Empress Collection has been showcased at the Harvard Museums, Worcester Art Museum, JMAC, Cambridge Library, and Tower Hill Botanical Garden among others.
