Community Canvas is an initiative presented by The Culture Show where GBH features artwork from community members on our Digital Mural.
Today’s mural is titled You Can See the Forest Burn by Yulia Pinkusevich. This painting explores fire as both a destructive and creative force. Pinkusevich captures the elemental power of fire – its ability to illuminate and obliterate, to bring forth new life and to consume it. The work serves as a meditation on the balance between light and shadow.
Pinkusevich is an artist and educator born in Kharkiv, Ukraine (USSR). Upon the collapse of the Soviet Union, her family fled the eastern block as refugees, immigrating to New York City. She holds a Masters of Fine Arts from Stanford University and Bachelors of Fine Arts from Rutgers University, Mason Gross School of the Arts.
