Today, The World is dedicating a special hour of coverage to the environmental and climate impact of the war in Ukraine.

The World. the global radio news program from GBH and PRX, has been reporting on all aspects of the war in Ukraine, first and foremost in human lives lost, destroyed communities and infrastructure. But they are also reporting on one overlooked element of the conflict - the environmental cost. Environment Correspondent and Editor Carolyn Beeler spoke to Ukrainians about what they are seeing on the ground, including contaminated floodwaters and soil, forest fires, dust filled with asbestos and hundreds of unexploded landmines.
