And at 9pm, Independent Lens: Chasing Trane—The John Coltrane Documentary focuses on perhaps the most influential sax player of them all (above).
Looking ahead, on August 26 at 7pm, AfroPoP: The Ultimate Cultural Exchange: Rewind & Play showcases iconoclastic pianist Thelonious Monk. And at 9pm Ron Carter: Finding the Right Notes explores the life and career of the most recorded bassist in music history.
