Painter Hyman Bloom is one of the forefathers of abstract art in America. Born in Latvia, he grew up in an Orthodox Jewish family in the former West End of Boston. This film highlights his body of work— now on display at the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston—which is a vibrant manifestation of Bloom’s imagination and his dedication to envisioning what others didn’t dare. Told with humor and irony, his story is a triumph of the human spirit and the art it inspires.

Watch it tonight at 10pm on WGBH 2.
