Today’s mural recognizes World Refugee Day. Since 2000, this annual global reminder of the 25 million refugees displaced from their homes has been a worldwide information initiative of the United Nations.
Locally, the International Institute of New England has been resettling refugees to Eastern Massachusetts for more than 100 years and advocates for better understanding of refugee and immigrant issues. Their Suitcase Stories storytelling program has been broadcast as episodes of Stories from the Stage on WGBH’s WORLD Channel. Watch them here.
