No matter how much we may not want it to happen, summer is coming to an end. But that doesn't mean the fun has to stop, there are a ton of interesting cultural events happening in the greater Boston area in the fall.

A Mozart Celebration
A Mozart Celebration will feature conductor Harry Christophers leading the Handel and Hayden Society Orchestra and Chorus through a variety of Mozart's notable works, including Eine kleine Nachtmusik, and the solemn Great Mass with high-wire singing and a transcendent “Et incarnatus est.”

Alicja Kwade's In Between Glances
This fall, the MIT List Visual Arts Center will welcome Berlin-based artist Alicja Kwade's latest exhibition. In Between Glances, takes a deep dive into the structures of reality and what we perceive is real. Kwade is best known for her sculptural works which use common, yet symbolically resonant materials like rocks and lamps.

An Iliad at the Emerson Paramount Theater
This fall Director Lisa Peterson and Actor Denis O’Hare are bringing their Obie Award-winning play, An Iliad, back to Boston. The encore performance will give audiences another chance to discover a stellar adaptation of Homer’s epic that explores the question: Has anything really changed since the Trojan War?

Boston Art Book Fair

Boston Book Festival
The Boston Book Festival celebrates the media and its influence on the world. The festival is spread over two days and two locations, and features special guests, including Marie Lu and Reginald Dwayne Betts.

Boston Film Festival
Each year the Boston Film Festival, one of the longest running film festivals in the country, attracts some of the best films from around the world. 2019 screenings will be announced soon. Last year the festival featured future Oscar winner "Green Book."

Boston Local Food Festival
The Boston Local Food Festival is a massive outdoor gathering of food vendors from the New England area. The festival focuses on sustainability and healthy eating, with chef demos, family fun zones, competitions and more.

Concert for One

Country in the City Concert
Country in the Cityis a free, annual outdoor concert put on by the Mayor’s Office of Tourism, Sports, and Entertainment in partnership with Country 102.5 FM. This year features a performance by Hunter Hayes and High Valley. Previous years have brought Eli Young Band and Scotty McCreery to the City Hall Plaza stage.

Fellow Travelers at the Boston Lyric Opera

Festival of Trees

Head of the Charles
The Head of the Charles is a two-day regatta that stretches for miles along both sides of the Charles River. Known as the largest regatta in the world, the event attracts rowers and sightseer's from all over.

Homer at the Beach at the Cape Ann Museum
The Cape Ann Museum has brought together a collection of early work painted by 19th-Century Artist, Winslow Homer. Homer at the Beachis the first close examination of the formation of this great artist as a marine painter.

The Polaroid Project at the MIT Museum
Starting in October the MIT Museum will feature The Polaroid Project, a traveling exhibition documenting the history of the company Polaroid. It explores various dimensions of the art-technology relationship, showcases cameras and over 200 original works by artists, including Ansel Adams and Andy Warhol.

The Purists at the Huntington Theatre Company

Yayoi Kusama's LOVE IS CALLING at the ICA
Artist Yayoi Kusama's latest work, LOVE IS CALLING, has the audience walk through a dark room with tenticles covered in polka dots and mirrors while listening to a recording of her reading a Japanese love poem. The exhibit will be accompanied by a presentation drawn from the ICA’s collection titled Beyond Infinity: Contemporary Art After Kusama that will offer insight into Kusama’s influences and her important legacy on contemporary art.

ZooLights at the Stone Zoo
ZooLights, presented by the Stone Zoo, dazzles visitors each holiday season with tree-lined paths lit by thousands of twinkling lights. This year visit black bears, Smoky and Bubba, in the decorated area around their exhibit, bald eagles, Canada lynx, arctic foxes, reindeer and more.
