Mandolin Orange — Live At FraserSinger-songwriter Andrew Marlin and multi-instrumentalist Emily Frantz formed Mandolin Orange in Chapel Hill, NC back in 2009. In the years since they’ve built a steady and sizable fanbase around their unique blend of Americana, bluegrass, folk, gospel, country, and pop. A few hundred fortunate WGBH members got the chance to experience this special performance by Andrew and Emily (along with their full touring band) in our intimate Fraser Performance Studio.

Belly — Live At FraserTanya Donelly (Throwing Muses, Breeders) formed Belly in 1992. Their debut album, Star, went gold propelled by the hit single, "Feed the Tree". The group disbanded in 1996, but they reunited in 2016 and released their new album, Dove, this year. A sold out crowd came out on a rainy Tuesday night here in our intimate Fraser Performance Studio to reminisce with the old classics and take in the new.

Brent Cowles — Live At FraserFresh off spending two weeks at a songwriting workshop on Nantucket, Denver-based singer-songwriter Brent Cowles joined us in our Fraser Performance Studio. Cowles achieved minor success with the band You, Me & Apollo then set out on a solo career.

The Tree That Falls — Live At FraserThe Tree That Falls perform live at WGBH’s Fraser Performance Studio. Cellist Cristobal Cruz-Garcia and guitarist John Shafer met at Boston’s Berklee College of Music. TTTF incorporates the modern fingerstyle technique for both guitar and cello, while taking influence from a wide variety of world styles and genres.

Brooke Annibale — Live at FraserSinger-songwriter/guitarist Brooke Annibale plays a number of tracks from her new record, Hold to The Light (released June, 2018) produced by Sam Kassirer (Josh Ritter, Lake Street Dive). The album marks several major departures for Brooke in terms of both songwriting and production.

Aubrey Haddard — Live At FraserBorn and raised in the Hudson River Valley of New York, Aubrey Haddard now performs consistently throughout the North East. After placing second in the Hudson Valley Voice competition in 2013, she continued her path as a richly diverse performer to the prestigious Berklee College of Music. Once relocating to Boston, Haddard was awarded ‘Massachusetts Solo Artist of the Year’ Bridging the Music Productions, and has become the front woman of the Boston-based original funk group The New Review, heralding recognition from the illustrious NPR Tiny Desk Competition stating “it sounds like she’s about to catch fire.”

Rakish — Live At FraserViolinist Maura Shawn Scanlin and guitarist Conor Hearn unite to form “Rakish.” The pair gets their namesake from the traditional Irish tune Rakish Paddy, an origin that aptly suits the duo and their shared background in traditional Irish and Scottish music. Maura Shawn, a two-time U.S. National Scottish Fiddle Champion and a winner of the Glenfiddich Fiddle Competition, wields the technical range of an accomplished classical violinist and the deep sensitivity of a traditional musician. Conor, a native to the Irish music communities of Washington, D.C. and Baltimore, MD, makes his home in Boston playing guitar for a number of traditional music acts and bands.

Harold López-Nussa Trio — Live at FraserCuban jazz pianist Harold López-Nussa performs live at WGBH’s Fraser performance studio in Boston with his brother, Ruy López-Nussa on drums, and longtime friend and collaborator, Gastón Joya, on bass. WGBH Jazz 24/7 host Tessil Collins sat down with Harold before his set to talk about performing with this particular trio, following the jazz scene in the U.S. while living in Cuba, and making the transition from playing Classical music to jazz.
