On the latest Open Studio with Jared Bowen, we look at a new public art installation on the Rose Kennedy Greenway called "The Herd," designed by Boston-based artist and MassArt graduate Andy Li, who works primarily in fibers and text. The installation features a series of bright green and yellow banners, and recognizes the Year of the Ox on the Chinese lunar calendar.

Bowen recently spoke with host Joe Mathieu on Morning Edition about the inspirational display.

We also speak with curator and author Debra Bricker Balken about her years-long effort to catalog the work of celebrated 20th-century American painter Arthur Dove. Edited and written by Balken, Arthur Dove: A Catalogue Raisonné of Paintings and Things sheds expansive new light on the artist’s work with an illustrated survey of the full corpus of his known paintings and assemblages (or “things”), along with a wealth of essays that draw on previously unpublished materials. Together, these add important context and texture to our understanding of the artist, his work, and the context in which it was created.
