Yonah Freemark

Principal research associate, Urban Institute

Yonah Freemark is a principal research associate in the Housing and Communities Division at the Urban Institute. He leads Urban’s Practice Area on Fair Housing, Land Use and Transportation. Previously, Freemark worked for Chicago’s Metropolitan Planning Council and has written for the New York Times, Next City, and CityLab, among other publications. He holds master’s degrees in city planning and in transportation, as well as a PhD in urban studies from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He lives along the U Street Corridor in Washington, DC.
