Viviana M. Abreu-Hernández

Dr. Viviana M. Abreu-Hernández is the President of the Massachusetts Budget and Policy Center, a non-partisan, 501 c 3 organization where she oversees the production of rigorous research, people-centered policy analysis, and strategic advocacy to advance policy solutions that promote racial and economic justice. Together with her teammates and in partnership with grassroot organizations and state-wide coalitions Viviana advocates for an equity-based state budget and public policies that provide resources for low-and-mid income working families and communities of color.
Viviana came to MassBudget after serving as Vice President of External Affairs at Quinsigamond Community College (QCC) in Worcester, MA where she was responsible for conceptualizing, developing, and executing major initiatives leading to the expansion of college’s presence in the community, and beyond. In her purview were the grants department, development and advancement, community engagement, the Alumni Advisory Board, and the QCC Foundation. She oversaw the communications, marketing and public relations department and was responsible for government relations at all levels. She developed strong, strategic partnerships with governmental agencies, public corporations, community and faith-based organizations, grantors, and funders. Under her leadership, funds raised for student supportive services saw a 100% increase, and grants and grant funding for initiatives and programs totaled $44 million.
