Patti Daniels

Director, Statewide Content and New Program Development

Patti is GBHs Director of Statewide Content, a role that marshals together the reporting strength of three newsrooms at GBH News in Boston, CAI on the Cape and Islands, and NEPM in western Massachusetts. Together, we cover the entirety of Massachusetts with distinction, drawing connections across the commonwealth. As the director New Program Development, Patti was integral to the launch of The Curiosity Desk, hosted by Edgar B. Herwick III, and In Common, hosted by Jeremy Siegel. Working closely with each show's producers, Patti led the teams in turning their concepts into broadcast reality, and giving audiences expanded local journalism.

From 2019- 2026, Patti was the show runner for The World, public radio's signature international news program. Patti led the editorial work of reporting on events around the globe, and delivering a news program each weekday that helped listeners connect with distant stories. Over seven years, Patti oversaw reporting on major wars from Afghanistan to Yemen, from Sudan to Gaza; she reported and produced special coverage from Ukraine one year after Russia’s full-scale attack. She applied a strong organizational approach to ensure that a small newsroom could punch above its weight to cover major stories.

Patti's entry to journalism was an internship at Vermont Public Radio. Over the years that followed, she rose through leadership roles in a rapidly expanding newsroom there. Patti was co-creator and executive producer of the award-winning public affairs program Vermont Edition, which was appointment listening especially during crises like Tropical Storm Irene. Patti also led VPR's special coverage of elections, produced documentaries on same-sex marriage laws and the jam band Phish, and championed internal projects that made VPR a better place to work.

Patti is the creator of the baking competition Public Radio Cake Week; you haven't reached your full potential until you've recreated major news events in frosting. Outside of work, Patti is likely to be having Type 2 fun in inconvenient places. Born in San Diego, she believes it really is 'America's Finest City.'
