Jill Charney

Jill Charney has been a School Adjustment Counselor at the Winter Hill Community School in Somerville for 25 years. She has a BS Degree in Special Education and Elementary Education from Boston University and an MSW from the University of Minnesota. Some of the initiatives she has implemented through the years include: student council, multicultural festivals, and bullying and sexual harassment prevention initiatives. She is the coordinator of the Safe and Supportive Schools Grant at WHCS, a member of the committee to improve the school building's health, the Student Support Team, the Instructional Leadership Team, and the Somerville Trauma Team; and a supervisor of graduate students in counseling. As part of the outreach surrounding a new *Arthur* initiative on cancer and survivorship, Jill wrote "Supporting Our Students: How a Cancer Awareness Initiative Can Help Your School."
