Jenifer McKim heads the GBH News Center for Investigative Reporting and the Equity and Justice Unit. As a multimedia reporter and editor, she specializes in topics, including human trafficking, child welfare, criminal justice, housing, and financial inequality. Her work has earned numerous awards, including two national Edward R. Murrow Awards, a Casey Medal for Meritorious Journalism, and the Freedom of Information Award from the New England First Amendment Coalition. She was a finalist for the 2005 Pulitzer Prize in Public Service.
McKim has worked as a staff reporter at the New England Center for Investigative Reporting, The Boston Globe, the Orange County Register in Southern California and the San Juan Star in Puerto Rico. She holds a BS in English from Wesleyan University in Connecticut and an MS in Journalism from Boston University. She is a fellow of the Nieman Foundation for Journalism at Harvard University and serves on the board of the New England First Amendment Coalition. She also speaks French and Spanish.
