James Orbinski

physician, humanitarian activist

James Orbinski is a physician and humanitarian activist. He worked for many years with Medecins sans Frontieres, in Peru, Somalia, Afghanistan, and Rwanda, during the Rwandan genocide. He served as president of MSF from 1998 to 2001, during which time the organization was awarded a Nobel Peace Prize. He is currently a research scientist at St. Michael's Hospital, and an associate professor of medicine at the University of Toronto.
