David is professor of psychology at Northeastern University where he examines the mechanisms of the mind that shape vice and virtue. Studying honesty and compassion, altruism and punishment, cooperation and trust, and the impact of spiritual practices, his work continually reveals the forces that underlie moral behavior.
David is a fellow of the Association for Psychological Science and the American Psychological Association. His work has been repeatedly funded by the National Science Foundation and the John Templeton Foundation. He is a frequent essayist on human behavior for major outlets including The New York Times, The Atlantic, The Wall Street Journal, The Washington Post, and The Boston Globe. He hosts the award-winning PRX podcast How God Works: The Science Behind Spirituality, and is the bestselling author of the books How God Works, Emotional Success, The Truth About Trust, and Out of Character .
David received his PhD in psychology from Yale University.
