Ah, June: the weather’s starting to warm up after all those May showers (hopefully), and just like that I find myself searching for a perfect summer drama to watch. The good news? We’ve got a LOT of options this month, with a new show, a new season of a fan favorite, and a rebroadcast for the books — plus a few last-chance streaming picks you won’t want to miss.
It’s drama time,

Newish show alert: Patience
Fans of our international offerings may have already watched the series Astrid, a French crime drama following a police librarian with autism, Astrid, who’s drawn into investigations by the headstrong commander Raphaelle. Well, now there’s an English version of the show, which will start airing on June 15 at 8pm. Watch a trailer here!
Grantchester is back this month
Now in its tenth season (and featuring our third crime-solving vicar), the village of Grantchester is just as plagued by interesting whodunits and interpersonal drama as ever. Read what to expect from the new season here, catch a preview here, and catch up on seasons 1-9 (or add the series to your watch list) right here. Season 10 starts June 15 at 9pm; don’t miss it.
Atlantic Crossing again
You may have missed this program when it first aired in 2021, but the show is back on our televisions (and still streaming) starting June 15 at 10pm. Set during World War II, the show follows the real story of Norwegian Crown Princess Martha and her relationship with U.S. President Franklin Delano Roosevelt. This series has a lot of fun easter eggs for history fans AND taut performances from stars Sofia Helin and Kyle MacLachlan. Looking for more? We’ve got a ton of Atlantic Crossing deeper dives: *
* I recapped the series when it first aired.
* This piece about the Black historical figures who may have inspired characters in Episode Five.
* This one about how Atlantic Crossing is different when it comes to covering the monarchy.
* And last but not least, some facts about Princess Märtha.
Also of note:
* Doc Martin Season 9 goes off GBH Passport at the end of this month. If you haven’t watched yet, now’s your last chance!
* Last year, our broadcast team acquired the first half of the series Foyle’s War. The second half of this classic series is available now, so you can watch it all from start to finish.
* Dalgleish, a series based on the best-selling detective series of the same name from P.D. James, is now streaming.
And on a different note (literally):
Great Performances just released 4 new incredible recordings of the hit musicals Next to Normal, Girl from the North Country, and Kiss Me Kate, and the comedy Yellow Face. As always, Great Performances has captured, well, some truly great performances, so if you’re at all theatrically inclined, catch these shows before they go off streaming in July. Watch now.
