When President Barack Obama delivers his State of the Union Address on Tuesday night, among those sitting in the audience will be the parents of Danroy “DJ” Henry Jr., of Easton.

Henry was 20-years-old when he was slain by a police officer in a New York suburb in October 2010.

Angella and Dan Henry are attending the State of the Union as guests of the Massachusetts congressional delegation. Congressman Joseph Kennedy III represents Easton and has been pushing the Justice Department to pursue a thorough  investigation into the death of DJ Henry.

A New York grand jury failed to indict officer Aaron Hess, who fired into the wind shield of a car driven by the Pace University student.

Depositions in a current civil case revealed that another policeman shot at Hess that evening in an attempt to protect Henry. Kennedy and Senator Elizabeth Warren were among the delegates who signed a letter asking for an update on the Justice Depts’ investigation.

Officer Hess’s attorney has accused the Mass delegation of “politicizing” the case.
