Attorney General Maura Healey isn’t a declared candidate for governor, but she still has more than five times the amount of campaign cash than the two declared Democrats in the race combined.
Healey’s committee announced Monday it had raised $403,351 from 1,140 donors in December, bringing Healey’s grand total for cash on hand to $3.67 million.

The next highest–raising Democrat in the race, Boston Sen. Sonia Chang-Díaz, reported taking in $102,606 in December for a $248,000 total. Over 80% of Chang-Díaz’s donors were from Massachusetts, according to her campaign.
Harvard political philosopher Danielle Allen reported raising around $83,000 in December for a total of around $470,000.
Healey’s considerable haul indicates her extensive ability to bring in funds, even without declaring which office she intends to run for in 2022. Instead of announcing her plans in the fall as she had vowed to do, Healey’s political operation instead concentrated on fundraising in the month of December and left any campaign announcements for the new year.
Former Berkshire county Sen. Ben Downing ended his race for the Democratic nomination last week with just $32,752.54 on hand.
