The New York Times reported Monday that former Massachusetts Gov. Deval Patrick is considering a presidential run, with the possibility of making an announcement as early as this week. The entrance adds another wrinkle to the largest Democratic presidential field ever, adding another candidate to the mix that may appeal to both progressives and moderates, as the party shifts generally leftward.

Jim Braude was joined by Sydney Asbury, former campaign manager and deputy chief of staff for Patrick, and now a principal at DNM Solutions, Paige Scott Reed, former general counsel for the Massachusetts Department of Transportation under the Patrick administration, now president of the Massachusetts Black Lawyers Association, and Glen Johnson, who covered Patrick as a statehouse reporter for the Associated Press before joining Secretary of State John Kerry’s communications team.
