The ongoing saga of relations between the United States and Iran took an unexpected turn this week at the G7 Summit, with President Donald Trump saying he was open to meeting with Iranian President Hassan Rouhani. His announcement was in response to efforts by French President Emmanuel Macron to get the two countries to talk following decades of tension.
