Some senior members of the Congressional Black Caucus have said they would support a Joe Biden-Kamala Harris presidential ticket in 2020, according to Politico.
While Biden is leading many polls, WGBH News' Under The Radar's Callie Crossley thinks it is too early to dismiss any candidate yet and declare former Vice President Joe Biden the likely winner.
"I'm just not convinced it's a solid lock yet," she said on Boston Public Radio Friday. "Stop diminishing [Sen. Kamala Harris] by saying she would be a great little helpmate for Joe Biden."
Crossley said she thinks lack of support behind Harris would be different if the Congressional Black Congress was not predominantly male.
"I cannot dismiss that the Congressional Black Caucus, even with the addition of the new women in the House, is a lot of men. They also think that the guy is the one that we should be supporting," she said.
Crossley said she thinks Biden's lead in the polls comes from name recognition, which many of his primary opponents don't have.
"It is disconcerting to try wade through 59,000 other people whom most of us can’t name," Crossley said.
