The Massachusetts governor’s race appears on track to be the most expensive in state history. Governor Charlie Baker and Lieutenant Governor Karyn Polito plan to spend as much as $20 million on their re-election campaign.
Baker and Polito currently have $10 million in the bank and don't show any signs of slowing down fund raising leading up to November.
Because Baker set the ceiling at $20 million, his opponent Jay Gonzalez can also spend as much. However, the Democrat has only $215,000 in his coffers as of the end of August.
A little further down the ballot, Attorney General Maura Healey also signaled some of her own re-election strategy, agreeing to two debates with Republican challenger James McMahon, including one on WGBH.
The general election is on November 6.
