Massachusetts House speaker Robert DeLeo maintained Monday that the House and Senate will reach a final agreement on the minimum wage increase and unemployment insurance bills, despite recent delays.
"I think that both parties are in favor of an increase in minimum wage," he said. "Despite the differences on [unemployment insurance], I think both parties want to see UI reform done. And because of that, I think we’ll find some type of solution."
The bills hit a snag last month after a dispute between House and Senate leaders over legislative process.
The House plans to debate its version of a minimum wage and unemployment insurance bill on Wednesday. The proposal would raise the minimum wage to $10.50 an hour over three years and would not tie future increases to inflation.
