Massachusetts Gov. Deval Patrick is poised to release his final budget next week. Patrick says his budget won't include any shockers … and as for new taxes?

“We have proposed candy and soda, taking them off the exemption, we’re going to propose that again," Patrick said. "No surprises. Nothing new.”

Last year, Patrick's budget included plenty of surprises. He proposed almost $2 billion in new taxes for transportation and education improvements. Lawmakers responded with a more modest $500 million plan to fund transportation.

The state projects revenues will grow $400 million over the next fiscal year, but no word yet from the administration on how the extra funds will be spent.

Patrick will present his budget plan on Wednesday.
