Tuesday at Santarpio's, the famed East Boston pizzeria, Boston City Councilor Sal LaMattina hosted a lunch at which several mayoral candidates—including Charlotte Golar Richie, Rob Consalvo, and Felix Arroyo—took a break from stumping to dine with their rivals.
The event attracted plenty of other big political names, including former State Senate President Bob Travaglini and his successor, Therese Murray.
But the guest who made the biggest splash was unquestionably Tom Menino, Boston's outgoing mayor of twenty years, who elicited a response befitting a head of state. Menino spoke with WGBH's Adam Reilly about what it's like to watch his would-be successors vying for one of the two spots in Boston's final mayoral election.
