U.S. Rep. and U.S. Senate candidate Ed Markey has joined a chorus of critics, saying suspected Boston Marathon bomber Tamerlan Tsarnaev should not be buried in Massachusetts.
“I think that the people of Massachusetts have a right to say that they do not want that terrorist to be buried on the soil of Massachusetts,” Markey said. “I think the body should be controlled by the federal government, and that it should be returned to the family of the terrorist for disposal. But if the people of Massachusetts do not want that terrorist to be buried on our soil, then it should not be done.”
Tsarnaev’s uncle and three friends prepared the body for burial on Sunday, but Worcester funeral director Peter Stefan says no cemetery in Massachusetts is willing to the the body.
