The race to succeed retiring Congressman Barney Frank in Massachusetts’ Fourth District has become a battle over the Kennedy name. But there's a twist.

Republican Sean Bielat has released an online video, portraying himself as having far more in common with President John Kennedy than Bielat's opponent, Joseph Kennedy.

Bielat implies that his experience as a marine and businessman align him with the late president. I caught up with Joseph Kennedy to get his reaction at a campaign event last night in Wellesley.

“It’s a bit bizarre, a bit of a desperate attempt to divert attention away from the issues in this race back to my family and he’s been doing that throughout the course of the campaign,” Kennedy said.

Bielat recently accused the Kennedy family of holding elected positions for too long. It's an interesting strategy for Bielat, who on one hand criticizes Joseph Kennedy for running on his name, yet raises the Kennedy name in a video to try to get elected to Congress.
