Emily Rooney looks at the news of the week. It’s been golden for some people — including Michael Phelps and the U.S. women’s gymnastics team — but not so much for Mitt Romney, who was hoping his overseas trip would be a reminder of his heralded ties to the 2002 Olympics in Utah. Instead, a series of blunders got him poor road trip marks. Locally, Gov. Deval Patrick  signed that habitual offenders bill, but not before a last-minute attempt to change it.
