We’re familiar with the words of the Constitution, the story of Huck Fin, and the lyrics of the “Star Spangled Banner”. They all play a part in how we think of our national identity. These texts have been used by America's leaders to do everything from create a sense of unity, to fuel our culture wars. Callie Crossley spoke with Boston University religion professor Stephen Prothero, who wrote about those "sacred" American texts in his book, The American Bible: How Our Words Unite, Divide, and Define a Nation.
