Greater Boston’s 1 GUEST series continues with Jarrett Barrios. Barrios has served as both a Massachusetts Representative and a Senator, becoming the first openly gay member of the Massachusetts Senate. As a lawmaker, he fought for an affordable housing tax credit, a requirement for emergency rooms to provide interpreters for non-English speakers, and to limit servings of fluffernutter in school cafeterias. Since leaving politics, Barrios has served as president of the Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts Foundation, GLAAD, and was recently named CEO of the American Red Cross of Eastern Massachusetts. Barrios opens up to Emily about his childhood, coming out to his Latino family, his political career, and much more.
