Callie Crossley welcomed three politics professors into the studio to discuss President Trump’s first 100 days in office, and what that tells us about the future of his term. More on that below, but first here is what you need to know to start your day.
Four Things to Know Today
1. Late last week President Donald Trump signed an executive order that could slash public subsidies to PBS and NPR. Congress has already authorized two years of funding toward the Corporation for Public Broadcasting through 2027. GBH President and CEO Susan Goldberg told Boston Public Radio on Friday she expects the administration to try to claw back those funds . Even if Trump is successful, Goldberg said GBH will continue to create content and cover local news. “There will still be GBH, of this I can assure you,” she said.
2. The 2025 John F. Kennedy Profile in Courage Award was given last night to former Vice President Michael Pence. The award, which was presented by President Kennedy’s daughter Caroline and her son , Jack Schlossberg, recognized President Trump’s former vice president for putting his life and career on the line to ensure the constitutional transfer of power on January 6, 2021 according to the JFK Library Foundation.

3. The Russian-born scientist detained at Logan Airport nearly three months ago will get a chance to make her case to a Vermont federal judge in mid-May . Kseniia Petrova, 30, said she is seeking to “clarify the circumstances” surrounding her entry into the United States in February, when she was detained for failing to declare frog embryos requested by the leader of her research group at Harvard Medical School’s Kirschner Lab. In a statement, Petrova said she didn’t expect any issues bringing them in the country since they were “non-toxic, non-hazardous, and non-infectious,” but that she should have more carefully reviewed U.S. customs requirements.
4. Worcester Public Schools has its next superintendent. The Worcester School Committee voted to select Deputy Superintendent Brian Allen for the role . He’ll replace current Superintendent Rachel Monárrez, who’s stepping down in June to lead the Orange Unified School District in California. Mayor Joseph Petty, who chairs Worcester’s school committee, called Allen a steady leader who “knows this district inside and out.”
Under the Radar: What do Trump’s first 100 days tell us about the future of his term?
In a little over three months, President Donald Trump has kept his promises to reshape the government. In addition to a flurry of executive orders, he has deployed administration officials, Cabinet members, and Elon Musk’s Department of Government Efficiency – also known as DOGE – to slash funds and the federal workforce, deport suspected undocumented residents, revoke student visas, and implement his controversial tariffs strategy.
