WALTHAM, Mass. (AP) — Police say a 16-year-old Massachusetts boy is in custody in connection with the stabbing of two women in a home across the street from an elementary school.
Waltham police say they responded to a home at about 1:30 a.m. Monday for a report of a stabbing. The home is near the Stanley Elementary school.
The victims, who “had been stabbed repeatedly,” were taken to the hospital and are expected to survive.
The suspect had fled but was arrested a few hours later after he was spotted “covered in blood” trying to break into a car.
No names were released and police did not disclose the relationship between the suspect and victims.
The school opened as scheduled, but WFXT-TV reports that firefighters hosed blood off the sidewalks before students arrived.
