When Vanessa Zoltan was studying at Harvard Divinity School, she thought she was going to be a prison and hospital chaplain. But she was about halfway through school when she realized that she didn’t understand what prayer was. So she turned to literature — first "Jane Eyre" and then the "Harry Potter" series — to glean deeper meaning from the world around her.

It was a twist of fate that led her down a very different path. And along the way she created a podcast and found a community — 65,000 subscribers strong. Together, they use "Harry Potter" to explore what is sacred to them, taking to heart one of Dumbledore's final lessons: Even if something is not tangible, "why on earth should that mean that it is not real?"
