Emily Rooney, host of WGBH News' Beat The Press, joined Boston Public Radio Friday for her weekly segment and, of course, to give us her famous list of fixations and fulminations.

This week, Rooney said she was flummoxed by Massachusetts' new $383 million plan to help six towns on the Cape with their problems with sharks. The plan will not provide utilities to prevent shark attacks, but will help supply these towns with tourniquets, ATVs, gurneys and other medical devices to help victims of shark attacks. Rooney said she thinks the money would be better spent on preventative measures rather than on accepting the inevitability of attacks.
