How can a vendor bill by the hour, for 100 hours of work, over just two days? Or, with a maximum hourly pay capped at $40 per hour, how can a vendor earn $2,000 per day?
These questions and others were examined in a new audit released this month by the City of Boston's Finance Commission. The audit looked at a particular vendor contract with Boston Public Schools' Office of English Language Learners, and found discrepancies in the vendor's invoices. Matt Cahill is the Executive Director of Boston's Finance Commission. He spoke with host Barbara Howard about what was uncovered in the audit.
