Beacon Hill is taking a break for the next five months. Formal sessions in both the State House and Senate are done until January. And before the clock struck midnight on Sunday, state lawmakers managed to agree on a few bills and send them to Governor Charlie Baker.
Robert DeLeo (@SpeakerDeLeo) joined Jim on Wednesday night to discuss what passed and what failed. He discussed some of his highlights of the bills that passed. The substance abuse legislation was included as a part of the budget, and a “good thing,” said DeLeo. He also discussed the transgender public accommodations bill, and that he is now a part of something historical. For the first time in Massachusetts, he said, we are giving protections to the transgender community,
While DeLeo said that he has never voted for a republican, Charlie Baker would be a person that he could vote for in Massachusetts.
