There’s a different style of policing in Cambridge called “procedural justice,” which focuses more on how officers interact with the public than on law enforcement outcomes like arrests. For years, Cambridge officers have been taking this approach with the city’s homeless population. Some in the community say the city’s too permissive and attracts the homeless to places like Harvard and Central Squares. But one Cambridge officer says that’s OK, as long as they’re safe.
