The U.S. women’s team won the women's championship at the 51st annual Head of the Charles Regatta this weekend, and Wisconsin's Camp Randall Rowing Club won the men’s championship for a second year in a row.
The men’s and women’s eight-person races were won by Yale University and The University of California Berkeley, respectively.
With its twists and turns and bridges to dodge, the three-mile crew race on the Charles River is among the most technically difficult in the world.
About 11,000 rowers competed this weekend, with hundreds of thousands lining the riverbanks to cheer rowers on. Rowers from 28 countries competed this year in more than 2,000 boats.
