A funeral service was held for Usaama Rahim at a Roxbury mosque Friday.

Rahim, 26, was fatally shot Tuesday by police after they say he threatened them with a military-style knife. Following today's service, the mosque’s imam, Abdullah Faaruuq, apologized for his comments yesterday, calling the FBI reckless and the shooting unnecessary.

“… Passion and love motivated me to speak yesterday prior to the family’s press conference and I have to apologize for those words I used during that press conference," he said. "I do not want to blame the officials or incite any distrust or hatred. Matter of fact, I think we have to work more carefully with our officials, from police and from FBI in order to keep peace.”

Rahim's family and their attorneys met with Suffolk County District Attorney Daniel Conley yesterday and viewed surveillance video of the shooting.
