Beacon Hill leaders are looking to spend up to $250,000 to hire a consultant to look into Boston's Olympic bid.
Governor Charlie Baker, Senate President Stan Rosenberg and Speaker of the House Bob Deleo hope to hire a consultant by the beginning of May. Baker says its worth the money:

"I think in this particular instance spending a couple of hundred thousand dollars on something that could cost the commonwealth as much as 2 billion dollars, I think that’s money well spent."

The 3 leaders say the goal is to produce a report that would analyze the cost of the Olympics, the required infrastructure investments and the risk of cost overruns that would have to be covered by the state.

Olympic boosters have promised that taxpayers won’t have to pay for anything.

The report is due in July.
