Some immigrants are having trouble signing up for insurance on the Massachusetts health care exchange website.
The Massachusetts Health Connector has received numerous complaints that the site can’t process immigration information. One such error message says “the external system to verify your citizenship is currently unavailable.”
The connector's Maydad Cohen says people are typing the wrong information.
“If you enter a seven digit number for a document that is an eight digit number, that is causing the kind of error that you’re describing.”
Cohen says the Connector will soon have a page that more clearly lays out all the information a consumer needs before enrolling.
Overall, officials are touting what they call “the incredible performance of the website.”
