It sometimes starts with tingling or numbness – there’s often blurred vision and coordination issues – and then the diagnosis.  Multiple Sclerosis – a neurodegenerative disease that impacts more than 2-million people worldwide – and the best doctors can do is to prescribe drugs to help manage its symptoms and slow its progression. Some of the biggest names in biomedical research are competing to develop better treatments – including Genzyme, Novartis and Biogen Idec – all in Kendall Square.  And this week – many of them are attending “MS Boston 2014” – a global conference to showcase the latest advancements.  Our guest Gigi Ranno is hoping a breakthrough isn’t far off.
