Margery Eagan, co-host of WGBH News' Boston Public Radio has joined The Boston Globe as a columnist for its forthcoming Catholicism-news website, Crux.

After 27 years at The Boston Herald, Eagan, who will continue hosting BPR, will be the spirituality columnist for Crux, focusing on "issues of spirituality, contemplation, and devotion, drawing on her personal experience with her Catholic faith, as well as that of other Catholics and those of various religious traditions."

“Margery has had a longstanding fascination with issues around spirituality and has spent no small part of her adult life exploring deep issues involving her Catholic faith,” Globe editor Brian McGrory said in a statement. “We couldn't be more delighted to add her smart, engaging voice to our strong roster of reporters and columnists that will be the backbone of this new site.”

McGrory joined Eagan and co-host Jim Braude on Boston Public Radio Wednesday to talk about Eagan joining the new website.
