Boston Mayor Marty Walsh named Joseph Finn the new fire commissioner on Monday.
Finn, 53, is a former marine and has been a firefighter for 29 years. He follows interim commissioner John Hasson, who has been in the position since January.
In March, then-Boston Fire Commissioner John Hasson and Deputy Fire Chief Joseph Finn spoke candidly with Jim Braude and Margery Eagan on Boston Public Radio in March about the 9-alarm fire in the Back Bay that took the lives of two firefighters.
